Thousands of dead fish in Marina del Rey due to heat

Monday, May 19, 2014
In southern California, thousands of dead fish are washing ashore in Marina del Rey.

Residents of the luxury community said the stench is overwhelming.

Biologists said massive fish kills like this one happen occasionally, as rising temperatures create something called an "oxygen dead zone."

The warm water can't hold as much air for fish to survive.
