CHICAGO (WLS) -- The man convicted in the suitcase murder in Indonesia is being deported and is expected in court in Cook County Thursday.

Tommy Schaefer will face charges stemming from the notorious killing of his former girlfriend's mother in Bali back in 2014.

Police said he and Heather Mack killed Mack's mother so Heather could get money from a trust fund.

Schaefer was sentenced to 18 years in prison. He was deported back to the United States from Bali International Airport on Tuesday evening, after serving his sentence and receiving a number of remissions for good behavior, said Felucia Sengky Ratna, head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, in a statement.
