3 killed, 1 severely hurt in downstate Illinois house explosion, sheriff says

TROY, Ill. (WLS) -- Three people died in a house explosion on Easter Sunday in downstate Illinois, according to the sheriff's office.



Madison County Sheriff's deputies and firefighters responded to a call in the 8000-block of W. Kirsch Road at about 11:14 p.m.

First responders arrived to a home engulfed in flames.

Multiple people were able to escape the fire with no injuries.

One person was taken to an area hospital with severe burn injuries.



Firefighters found three bodies inside the house, according to the sheriff's office.

Officials said they do not believe there is a threat to the community.
