Police said two suspects walked up to a group of UChicago community members who were walking on the sidewalk near East 55th Street and South Cottage Grove Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Friday.
One of the suspects pulled out a gun and demanded property from one person, police said. Both suspects then took off on foot.
No one was hurt.
Police are investigating and asked anyone with information to call the Chicago Police Department or the University of Chicago Police Department at 123 from a university phone or at 773-702-8181 from other phones.
