CHICAGO (WLS) -- Close family friends are working out the transportation details to bring Liliana Navarette back to Chicago on Wednesday as the family's attorneys work to get her 18-year-old son out of detention.

Liliana and her son, Ricardo, were arrested after family friends say they got an email asking them to come to immigration court in Chicago back in March.

The mother and son had been detained for the past nine weeks, moving to at least eight detention camps before both ended up in Kentucky.

A federal judge ordered Liliana's immediate release on Tuesday, but the Mather High School senior is still in custody.

Now, those who have supported the family are ramping up their efforts to reunite Ricardo with his mom.

"He needs to come home and at least see his friends, and if we can recreate a graduation or something for him, I think the community would do that. He's very, very missed by everybody here," said family friend Kristy Morrow.

Morrow says before Ricardo and his mother were detained, they had been awaiting their asylum trial.

Now, they are hoping he can be released in time for his high school graduation next Friday.

Kristy says he had plans to play soccer next year at Truman Junior College.
