Chicago Culture Ball

Over 3,000 people will gather for this year's Chicago Culture Ball, hosted by Eventoire on Saturday, Aug. 15. Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the ball will be held at the brand-new Obama Presidential Center, where attendees will honor influential African American leaders who have inspired and made a positive impact on communities across Chicago.

Grammy Award-winning poet, author and songwriter J. Ivy is among the 2026 honorees. He joins Val Warner and Ryan Chiaverini to explain what guests can expect at this year's ball and what it means to him to be honored in his hometown.

Val and Ryan celebrate their career milestones

Val and Ryan had a much needed catch up after Val was out celebrating her fiver year wedding anniversary in Cancun, Mexico, the exact place and resort where the wedding took place.

The hosts also took a trip down memory lane to celebrate some major career milestones. Ryan celebrated his 20th year at ABC7, while Val celebrated her 15th year. Some might call it coincidence, others might call it fate, but Val was hired exactly five years and one day after Ryan joined ABC7.
