Glenn Rhymes is accused of threatening a patient with a handgun.
The alarming altercation and Rhymes' arrest were all captured on video.
Security video shows Rhymes, while on the job at the time, apparently threatening a patient, while showing a fully loaded gun inside a UI Health hospital lobby.
There is also police body camera video that shows his arrest a short time later. In it, you can hear him admitting to the charges that he answered to in court Wednesday.
The body camera video shows as officers tracked down Rhymes on July 21, after, moments before, he allegedly brandished a gun during an altercation with a patient inside a packed hospital lobby.
After police retrieved a fully loaded gun from Rhymes, he then pleaded his case.
Rhymes was heard on the video saying he did show that he had a gun.
In security video, someone is seen trying to calm Rhymes before he fully takes out the gun during the argument with a patient inside the lobby of the UI Health Outpatient Care Center.
Following the incident, UIC said Rhymes was allegedly wanted in connection to a double shooting that happened the next day in South Austin.
Though, Chicago police, nearly a month later, are still not confirming those details.
Rhymes had no comment while leaving court Wednesday.
In the wake of this security scare, a University of Illinois Chicago spokesperson said in a statement, "During the incident, no shots were fired, and no injuries occurred. The hospital has implemented new and enhanced security protocols."
Aramark, the third-party food service contractor Rhymes worked for at the time of the incident, confirmed he is no longer with the company.
Though, Rhymes on Wednesday told the judge he is employed, and plans to hire his own attorney. He's due back in court next month.
