Suspects following SUV in West Englewood fire shots, injuring 11-year-old boy and 2 men inside: CPD

One of the men was critically injured.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Drive-by shooters followed an SUV and opened fire on it, injuring a child and two men on the city's South Side on Monday afternoon, Chicago police said.

Police said the shooting happened in the West Englewood neighborhood's 1900-block of West 70th Street around 4:30 p.m.



Suspects in a black sedan were following a white SUV containing an 11-year-old boy, a 45-year-old man, and a 46-year-old man, police said. At one point, shots were fired from the sedan into the SUV.

The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction, and the victims took themselves to Holy Cross Hospital.



The 11-year-old, grazed in the lower body, was listed in fair condition.

The 46-year-old, shot in the body multiple times, was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

The 45-year-old, shot in the back, was transported to the same hospital in good condition.

No other injuries were reported. Area One detectives are investigating.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
