Woman dies in high-rise fire in West Town, fire dept. says

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman was found dead in a high-rise building fire on Thursday, the Chicago Fire Department said.



The fire happened on Thursday morning at 1170 W Erie Street, officials said.

The woman was found dead at the scene, fire officials said.

CFD used hand pumps to extinguish the fire.



The cause of the fire is under investigation.



Officials did not release further information about the victim.
