Woman dies after East Side crash, driver left scene: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman died Thursday morning, after the car in which she was a passenger crashed into a pole, Chicago police said.

CPD said a gray GMC SUV was driving in the 3400-block of East 95th Street on Chicago's East Side just after 5 a.m. on New Year's Day, when it crashed.



The driver left the vehicle, and the passenger, a 38-year-old woman, suffered several injuries, police said.

The woman was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where she died.



No other injuries were reported.

The Major Accident Investigation Unit is looking into the circumstances of the deadly crash.
