Thief allegedly strikes officer outside Target, Woodridge police say

WOODRIDGE, Ill. (WLS) -- A suburban officer is recovering after being struck by a car amid a Target theft investigation, police said.



Woodridge police said it happened at 8:23 a.m. outside the Target at 2333 63rd Street.

As police were placing the alleged thief into custody, they resisted arrest and used a vehicle to hit one of the police officers.

Woodridge police said the suspect then drove off.



Police confirmed the suspect was taken into custody on Chicago's West Side near Monroe and Madison streets.

The police officer was taken to an area hospital and is expected to be OK.
