CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Silver Room Block Party is back in a new location at Oakwood Beach after a five-year hiatus, with the same House music Chicagoans know so well.

It's a genre that has played through the years and one that DJ Celeste Alexander helped to pioneer in Chicago.

"House music never went anywhere. (um) It's always been here. It's always going to stay," DJ Celeste Alexander said. "This would be my 40th year as a House music dj. I'm actually Chicago's second female house music DJ."

Thriving through the decades in the Windy City, House music, now bringing together hundreds at Oakwood Beach, marking the long-awaited return of the Silver Room Block Party.

"It feels great to see all these people because we've been locked in for so many years, it felt like so many years! But, it's great! Just to hear the music, seeing people having a great time," said festival attendee Ketty Charles.

The festival is now back after a five-year hiatus. Two of those years missed, the event was canceled due to the pandemic.

Now, the event is back with the pulsating beats, along with the usual kids programming, cultural and well-being activities and plenty of vendors and food.

"This is the perfect example on how the world should be one day, at least. No war, love, community, harmony, and having a good time and enjoying life to the fullest," said fellow attendee Antony Burgos.

The event is also a two-day festival this year, bringing one extra day of fun.

The event is from noon until 10 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday night.

Expect a lot of traffic and limited parking.
