CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago fire officials said four people were injured, including two children, were injured in a serious car crash on the city's South Side Thursday evening.
Police said a the driver of a Chevy Cavalier traveling eastbound on 83rd Street lost control of the vehicle around 6:30 p.m., and struck a pole.

The woman driving the car was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition, as was an adult male passenger whose condition is listed Thursday night as stable. Two children, who fire officials said were 2 and 4 years old, were taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital where their conditions were also listed as stable.
Officials have not said what caused the woman to lose control of the car. No further details about the victims have been released.

Lights in the area of the crash are out. Fire officials said Commonwealth Edison turned off the power for safety reasons due to damage to the power pole.
