STONE PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A fire spread to three apartment buildings in Stone Park Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters dumped water on the smoldering buildings in the 1800-block of 36th Avenue Saturday afternoon.

Three separate three-flat buildings were completely destroyed, witnesses said. It's not known how many people were displaced. Only minor injuries were reported.
Crews from neighboring Melrose Park, Schiller Park, Maywood, Bellwood and River Grove responded to the scene.

A statement posted to the Village of Stone Park Facebook page read: "There was multi building fire [sic]on the 1800 block of 36th Avenue today with minor injuries. Mayor Mazzulla, Clerk Cassidy-Hatchet, Trustees and first responders have worked tirelessly to engage all possible resources to ensure the displaced families have safe shelter & meals. This is a time for the community to come together as the families will need much help to get back on their feet. We will share donation details soon."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
