TINLEY PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A passenger was killed and two drivers were injured early Tuesday morning in a crash that left a car wrapped around a light pole in southwest suburban Tinley Park, police said.

Emergency crews responded around 3:30 a.m. to a report of a wreck involving two vehicles in the 17200-block of South Oak Park Avenue. Chopper 7HD was over the scene. Debris from at least one of the cars was scattered across the street.

A passenger in one of the vehicles died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim's identity. Tinley Park Mayor Jacob Vandenberg gave his condolences in a statement released later Tuesday morning.

"On behalf of the Village Board and the residents of Tinley Park, I'd like to send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim," Vandenberg said.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Oak Park Avenue was blocked between 171st and 173rd streets for crash cleanup and an investigation, police said. The road has since reopened.
