"I love it. I get to learn about different places, different destinations you can go and travel," said Chicago resident Ida Mendicuti.

The event came at the perfect time for Illinoisans, who are bracing for below-freezing temperatures this week. That's on the mind of many at this event.

"Get out of Chicago and the cold weather. Yep, that's for sure. Probably somewhere in the Caribbean, nice, warm beach vacation," said Chicago resident Joe Doane.

Justin Barnette is the head of marketing for South America Tourism.

"Today, in Cape Town, it was 80 degrees. So if you are looking for a perfect winter getaway, South Africa should be on your list," Barnette said.

Others aren't as worried about the temperature.

"Not really. We do a lot of traveling over the holidays. We spent last Christmas in Germany, because my son lives there. We like the cold weather, too. We enjoy it," said Long Grove resident Sandra Bersin.

There's a destination for everyone at the show, with representatives from each state or country showcasing why you should go there.

The organizers also offer special deals, giveaways and some worthy advice when planning your next trip, like what website to book with.

"Believe it or not, it's not Google flights. It came off 10th on our list. There's a site many haven't heard of, called Mamondo, that finds the lowest price most consistently, so you'll hear tips like that," said Frommer Guide Books Editorial Director Pauline Frommer.

The show also offers an LGBTQ+ Pavilion, giving specific information for the community.

They highlighted South Africa as one of the best destinations for that group, as it was one of the first countries to legalize same-sex marriage.

"There are needs and concerns of LGBTQ that are beyond simply what to eat, what beach to go to, what clubs to go to. It's also, 'Will I be safe? Will I be able to check in without something looking at me funny?'" said organizer Ed Salvato.

If you couldn't make it out on Saturday, you have another shot on Sunday. The show goes until about 4 p.m. at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.
