Diamond buyers could be due a rebate

Millions of Americans who bought diamond rings or other diamond jewelry could be in for a sizable rebate.

It's thanks to the pending settlement of a series of class action lawsuits against the DeBeers diamond company for price-fixing and monopoly practices.

To qualify you must have purchased your diamond between 1994 and 2006. And you'll need a receipt or other proof of purchase. You could get refunded up to 30 percent or more of the price you paid.

But here's the catch: the total value of the settlement is $295 million . So the more consumers who make claims, the smaller your individual rebate will be.
