This arctic weather has us all scrambling in our closets to find something warm to wear. What could be more cold weather-friendly than warm, beautiful sweaters and jackets from Icelandic Design? www.icelandicdesign.com Founded in 1980 by Gerdur Kristjansdottir, Icelandic Design offers hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind knitwear for women. Icelandic Design draws inspiration for its designs from spectacular landscapes, decorative arts and the heritage of European textiles.

Icelandic Designs is showing two of its new collections this week at the Chicago Market: Living and Giving Show at the Merchandise Mart. While the trade show is only open to those in the retail business, you can find the company's collections at more than two dozen stores in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Garments shown at the market will be available in local stores next fall.

The Clare by Icelandic Design Fall 2008 Collection offers a collage of texture and color, as well as a rich combination of pattern, innovative detail and expressive artwork. Distinctive design and novelty details combine to create sweaters with a one-of-a-kind feel. Organic button and ribbon details abound with novel elements built into each piece. Fibers include cotton and cotton blends for ease and comfort. The line includes a range of color, from saturated jewel tones to softer shades grounded by timeless black and ivory.

The Accessories by Icelandic Design Fall 2008 Collection captures a spirited sense of style with an appreciation for artistry and detail. These whimsical accessories encompass a range of styles and sensibilities from the traditional to contemporary. This collection stretches into gift and children's items. The line includes a range of fibers from chunky hand knit wools to light sporty yarns and structured fabrics.
