On the last day of early voting, the City of Chicago set a new one-day record and tripled its record for overall participation. There were reports of lines at more than a dozen early voting sites around the city.

A preliminary count of 11,980 ballots cast Thursday pushed the unofficial total to 81,827 ballots cast in early voting for the presidential primary. That is more than triple the previous record of 24,805 from early voting for the November 2006 general election.
