If you want to lose weight and keep it off, the trick may be having your own personal counselor.

Duke University researchers reporting in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that people who spoke with a counselor once a month regained the least weight, even though the sessions are typically just 15 minute conversations.

Over 2 1/2 years, people who were left on their own regained about 4pounds more than those who had that monthly check in. Experts say having another person help track your weight, even if it's just a friend, can help keep the pounds from creeping back on.
