Opening statements were held Friday in a trial that could keep a former priest behind bars.

Reverend Fred Lenczycki was convicted in 2004 of abusing Hinsdale Catholic School boys in the 1980s.

He was scheduled to be paroled in 2006. But prosecutors are trying to make him the first clergy member to be kept in jail under the Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act. Friday, the assistant attorney general told a jury that Lenczycki will likely abuse again. Lenczycki's attorney disputed that claim.
