Foreclosures on course to reach new record

In 2007, the county's court system processed more than 22,000 foreclosure cases.

In just January and February of 2008, there were more than 7,300 cases filed, which is nearly double from the same period a year ago.

Officials say if foreclosures continue at the same pace, Cook County could end up with more than 44,000 filings by the end of the year.
