Two narrowly escape as train strikes car

Two men jumped out of a car just before a freight train rammed into it early Tuesday morning in northwest suburban Wheeling. Police say the car may have been traveling on the Frontage Road off Palatine Road near Wolf. It apparently ran through a barricade and ended up on the railroad tracks.

The two men were take to nearby hospitals with injuries that were not life threatening.

Wheeling police are investigating the accident.
