CHA accepting new Section 8 housing applications
CHICAGO Those vouchers reduce rent payments for low and moderate income residents.
Anyone who's interested can apply from now until May 15, when the application period ends.
A lottery will determine the 40,000 people who will win a spot on the list.
Those on the list could receive vouchers within a few months. Others could take years.
"We're at a point where we're at the last portion of our list. And we just felt it was the right thing to do to open it up. So there is no new money. But as we lose families through attrition and other things we see that there's opportunity available," said Lewis Jordan, Chicago Housing Authority CEO.
