Don't sleep near your dog, British vet suggests

Britain's top government veterinarian is warning people not to allow their dogs to sleep in the same room. That's because they could pass on disease.

Among diseases thought to be carried by dogs are common food poisoning bugs and salmonella, as well as exotic diseases. Also, about 10 percent of dogs are believed to carry the superbug we've heard so much about lately, MRSA.

The warning comes after a British survey found 20 percent of pet owners allowed their dogs to sleep in the same room and were not aware that their pets could carry dangerous diseases.
