Microsoft reconsidering XP discontinuation

The 6-year-old operating system was going to be discontinued on June 30. But hundreds of thousands of people have signed an online petition to keep Windows XP sales going.

Microsoft's Vista operating system is loaded onto most new computers. But it has been met with marginal reviews.

Microsoft says it is considering keeping the current Windows XP software on the market until an updated version is released in 2010.
