Warrior Assistance Program

That program was established earlier this year under the supervision of veterans' affairs director Tammy Duckworth. She and her husband served in the Middle East at different times.

Duckworth says the program is designed to help vets as they transition back into society after serving our country. It also provides free screenings for traumatic brain injury.

"There's a stigma attached to mental health, and the message that I am trying to send is that these are wounds, these are war wounds, you were wounded in combat whether it is PTSD or a brain injury, and brain injury is a combat wound you deserve to get the help that you need," she said.
