Metal arms on the Yo-Yo ride extend from a rotating hub. Chairs are attached to the end of each arm by chains, and swing outward as the hub rotates and picks up speed.
In the California accident last week, the machine's hub disrupted its normal rotation. The chairs collided, and the chains and passengers became tangled. Twenty-three people were hurt.
A Chance official has said the company stands by the safety of its ride.
