St. Sabina members meet with cardinal

CHICAGO They met with Francis Cardinal George Thursday night to learn more about his decision to temporarily remove Plfeger from the pulpit and to ask that he be reinstated.

Pfleger's supporters all agreed not speak about what happened during the meeting. Neither side is talking about that meeting that lasted about two and a half hours. Parishioners arrived and did not comment before or after their meeting with the cardinal.

They are still upset after the cardinal told Pflager to take a few weeks off after he mocked Hillary Clinton in a sermon May 25..

"There's a black man stealing my show!" Pfleger mocked from the pulpit.

"In the meantime, the cardinal has assigned Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley's brother-in-law, Ft. William Vanecko, to take over.

"I asked father Pflager to take a couple weeks from the media and I think I should observe that too," said Cardinal George.

The cardinal said he would be on sabbatical a few weeks. Pfleger's supporters were tight lipped about his future. They went through the front door of the archdiocese to enter the meeting. When they left, they didn't want to face the crush of cameras and other journalists waiting to ask questions and left a different route.

There was one person who did leave out the front door - Vanecko. He did not have any comment when he left as well.
