Getting enough sleep over an extended period of time could significantly improve an athlete's performance. In an ongoing study, researchers at Stanford University have been testing the impact of extra sleep on student athletes. Athletes had their sleep increased to 10 hours per day for several weeks. Findings show their performance improved with the extra sleep. The athletes also had less fatigue and daytime sleepiness but more energy.
