'After School Matters' program kicks off for the summer

The 'After School Matters' organization, founded by Chicago First Lady Maggie Daley, kicked off its summer program Friday with a big celebration.

Even Chicago area actor Jeremy Piven attended the event.

The programs give high school teens activities to keep them interested in learning. Friday, it was announced that the program is expanding to Millennium Park.

Maggie Daley says it won't stop there.

"I'm not going to rest until we have many more opportunities. This past year, we had close to 30,000 opportunities for teens, but we need to improve that because there are 100,000 teens in our public high schools in Chicago," she said.

Programs are offered in more than 50 campus sites around Chicago, along with more than 100 community-based organizations.
