Chicago 2016 to Host "Chicago Believes..."

Chicagoans and media are invited to a celebration event to honor Chicago's selection as a Candidate City in the bid for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing and the U.S. Olympic team. The event will serve as a city celebration with free athletic, musical and artistic performances in Millennium Park starting at 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 14. Event highlights include:

4:30 p.m.: Demonstrations from Olympians, Paralympians and Olympic hopefuls in various events. Free seating available for 7,000 on the Millennium Park Great Lawn, who can purchase concessions or bring a picnic. Two Park Grill concession areas will be set-up on the east side of the Great Lawn, and an additional retail and concession tent will be located on the west side of the Great Lawn.

6:30 p.m.: A fundraiser dinner for ticketed guests will feature international menu offerings from some of the world's top chefs. Dinner tickets are available for guests starting at $500.00. There are limited seats available for the performance only for $100. Seats on the Great Lawn are free of charge.

8:00 p.m.: A variety show at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion will begin at 8:00 p.m. to celebrate great Chicago Olympic moments, and will include performances by members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Bandoleros, Hubbard Street Dance, the Anti-Gravity Boots Team, a local gospel choir and Chicago's own world-class tenor Rodrick Dixon. Emcee Bart Connor will bring U.S. Beijing-bound athletes up on stage for a Chicago send-off.
