Botox shots may reduce migraines

The injections seem to prevent migraines in people who have frequent attacks and are not helped with oral medications.

A study in the journal Headache followed patients for six months. Some got Botox and others received placebo injections. Those who got the real thing reported fewer migraine attacks.

But what the shots did not seem to do was lessen the pain or severity of the migraines. But, with fewer attacks, the Botox patients reported a positive impact on their quality of life.
