Dish Network launches new satellite

The race for the most high-definition channels is heating up between two satellite TV providers.Dish Network got a big boost for its plan to increase its HD lineup Wednesday with the launch of a new broadcast satellite that will help Dish add another 17 HD channels by August 1 and will put the company five months ahead of its plan for 100 national HD channels by the end of the year.

Direct TV hopes to have 150 HD channels by the end of the year.

Both companies are aggressively pushing high definition to set themselves apart from cable operators, which also are adding HD channels at a rapid pace.
