Study shows weekends add calories

Now there's a scientific study that backs you up.

Researchers followed 48 men and women for a year, dividing them into groups that either reduced calories or increased exercise.

No matter which group, the dieters found themselves indulging on the weekend and ended up eating an extra 200 calories each weekend day.

Some hints to avoid regaining weight on weekends are to eat more fruits, veggies and whole grains early in the day to feel fuller; when going out to dinner Saturday night, split an entree with a friend and avoid the bread so you can indulge in a dessert.

The study is published in the journal Obesity.
