1 in 3 don't get prescriptions filled

Doctors in Denmark tracked prescriptions purchased by patients who had skin diseases within the past two years. They found that four weeks after receiving the prescriptions 30 percent of the patients had not filled them.

Older patients were more likely to fill their prescriptions, as were patients who had seen specialists. People with chronic illnesses were less likely than those with short-term conditions to get a prescription filled.

The study is in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.
