State fair opens in Illinois

Gov. Rod Blagojevich, his wife and daughters cut the ribbon Friday morning to open the 156th State Fair in Springfield officially. This year's fair theme is "A Family Tradition."

The annual event features entertainment, carnival rides and livestock exhibits, not to mention the ever-popular funnel cakes, lemon shake-ups and various food-on-sticks.

Performers this year include ZZ Top, Brooks and Dunn, Fergie and Joan Jett, and the Blackhearts.

The state fair runs until Sunday, August 17.
