It's common knowledge that exposure to traffic fumes can be unhealthy. Now there is evidence that it is even more dangerous for patients recovering from heart attacks. Particulate pollution is known to increase the risk of heart attacks and other serious diseases.

Harvard researchers conducted a new study monitoring a group of people who already had heart attacks. They found the patients showed unusually higher changes in the electrical conductivity of the heart when exposed to pollution.

The study is published in the Journal of the American Heart Association.
