NORTHBROOK --
State police responded to the scene of an accident on the Edens expressway that was backing up traffic. A motorist became trapped inside his vehicle after striking some construction equipment. It happened just before 5 a.m. in the northbound lanes near Dundee Road in north suburban Northbrook. The driver was taken to Lutheran Hospital by helicopter in serious condition.
