Millions buy diet books, few diet

It may seem like a lot of people are focused on the issue of weight and losing it. But a soon to be released survey by the NPD group finds, even though millions of Americans are buying diet books and watching programs about weight lose, few are actually doing it. The research firms says the number of people actually on a diet appears to be the lowest it's been in more than two decades. Researchers suspect the reason is that dieting is simply too hard.

One plus: the emphasis on healthy eating may also be motivating people to stop dieting and simply eat healthier, not less.
