Behavioral management could help obese kids

A new study released by the US Department of Health and Human Services Agency for Healthcare evaluated programs and found there are programs out there that can help children to either gain weight more slowly as they grow or, when appropriate, lose weight.

The most effective programs included techniques to improve diet and exercise habits. Some programs focused on goal setting, problem solving and relapse prevention.

Weight loss drugs and surgery were associated with adverse side effects.
