Sauerberg is a physician from the Chicago suburbs, and he faces an uphill battle to try to unseat Durbin, who is the Senate's second-highest ranking Democrat.
Later this week, Durbin and Sauerberg will meet in another debate. They're scheduled to take part in a radio debate Thursday at Knox College in Galesburg sponsored by the Illinois Radio Network.
