Officer shoots would-be robbers

An off-duty Chicago police officer shot and wounded two men who allegedly tried to rob him late Wednesday night.Police say the two men approached the officer and attempted to hold him up on 83rd Street near South Campbell. The officer fired his gun, wounding both men, who ran away. Police caught up with them at a nearby hospital. The two alleged robbers are expected to be OK.
