100-calorie snack packs may help diet

New research shows they are a good way to curb excessive snacking.

In a study presented this week at the Obesity Society Meeting in Phoenix, researchers found people who had been given small snack bags consumed 120 fewer calories a day when they were eating from the 100 calorie packs than when they were given regular packages.

And even after those same people were given larger bags of snacks , they kept their smaller appetites, consuming about 850 fewer calories per week.
