That award is for the aquarium's "Listen to Your Lakes" campaign.
The campaign raised awareness about environmental concerns for the Great Lakes through the Shedd's Web site and education programs.
"We have the opportunity now to inspire the 42 million people who live on the Great Lakes as a starter to act to protect those lakes that are 20 percent of this country's fresh water supply," Deb Kerr Fassnacht, executive vice president at the Shedd Aquarium, said.
