Steppenwolf wins $600K grant

Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company was been given a $600,000 grant from the Andrew Mellon Foundation.The money is part of a new initiative from the Foundation for the Development of New Plays for American Theatre.

Earlier this year, the company's production of August: Osage County won a Pulitzer and a Tony.

The theatre says the money will be used in part to fund its playwright-in-residency program. Over the next three years, four playwrights will develop works for the Steppenwolf company.
