Chief Illiniwek replica to dance again

In 2007, the University of Illinois banned the mascot from sporting events after years of complaints by Native Americans and others. They say the chief is a demeaning caricature.

Now a student group has rented assembly hall for a rally after next Saturday's football game against Ohio State. A new Chief Illiniwek will perform in a replica costume.

A university spokesperson says the school has nothing to do with the performance and they will not stop the students from exercising free speech.
