A Chicago author is recovering after being mugged in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Laura Caldwell is a Chicago-based novelist and college professor. Caldwell said she was attacked by two men Thursday night near the corner of Seminary and Altgeld. She had several teeth knocked out in the incident and had her iPod stolen.

Caldwell said she recognized signs of dangers immediately before the attack.

"I just sort of ignored it, because I thought, 'It's 5 o'clock I'm in Lincoln park, I'm out walking in my neighborhood.' The price I paid was an iPod and some teeth, but it could obviously have been worse," said Caldwell.

Chicago police say they are investigating the incident but so far no arrests have been made.
