Group therapy could extend breast cancer patients' lives

A new study finds psychological group therapy for women with breast cancer may help them not only cope better with their disease but also live longer. This idea has been controversial for years and past studies have yielded conflicting results.

But in this study, after 11 years, women who participated in the group therapy were 56 percent less likely to die of breast cancer and 45 percent less likely to have their cancer return.

The study appears in the journal cancer.
