The popular cancer drug Avastin is known to raise the risk of blood clots when added to chemotherapy. Now, a new analysis aims to clarify that risk.A report in the Journal of the American Medical Association analyzed 15 clinical trials involving 8,000 people.

Results show Avastin raises the risk of blood clots by one-third when combined with chemo.

Researchers say the findings should not dissuade cancer patients from taking the drug. Instead, they say, patients and doctors just need to be on the lookout for blood clots.
